Title: More 16v woes
Post by: Justins145bhpMK1 on 06 June 2005, 18:07
HI all.

when coming to a stop the valvers revs drop right down to about 400 before picking back up and settling down to 950.

My MK3 used to do this and cleaning out the throttle body did the trick, but not it would seem on the 16v.

Also it sounds like the exhaust is blowing from the front, had it checked out and all appears fine. Could it be the timing chain or something??

Have you tried cleaning out the ISV..?

If not, take it off and spray some carb cleaner up in and around it or leave in thinners or petrol overnight.

I used to have this problem on mine (mine used to stall at junctions) but this sorted it.
