I'm from South Shields & I was thinking of getting this done as well.
Was thinking about getting someone from R Tech to do a mobile visit.

its worth the drive down to get it on rollers and get an exact figure of whats going on im a 3 hour drive away and was well worth the drive

3 and a half hours from Newcastle which would be fine but I don't get much time off work and need it sorted ASAP rather than wait till I'm on holiday in July. Wonder what r techs mobile prices are like??

There is a company up your way called BigFish tuning the owner John seems clued up on the 1.8T engines and on other VAG forums he is keeping lots of members happy, so might be worth a try??

Agree with Nick.
If you cant make the trip to r-tech (which you really should) then see John at Bigfish. Heard a few good things from his maps, mainly on vagcars.
My friend had her GTi mapped there, and leon, and when she drove mine she thought a R-tech map was better and much smoother. Not saying its bad, but thats what she said.
I certainly know where i would go, and there is only 1 place in the UK that I would allow to touch my ECU with a mapping tool. - R-tech.

Will prob end up going to R tech, had a few problems with my agu and rang them today for advice, absolute gent and pleasure to speak to. Very easy to see why they are so highly recommended hopefully be able to sort the problems with the advice and be able to look at new turbo etc and remap by them.
