Title: Upper Gearbox Mount, what to get
Post by: lukeyyyyyyy21 on 03 May 2012, 22:14
Dogbone mount went a while back. The upper Gearbox mount under the airbox is also fooked. Going to do when I do the clutch and flywheel. Had a look on ebay and Ive found non branded ones for as much as £28. Yet a racing spec one online for around £144!

Does anyone or can anyone reconmend one for me?

Polly a must on a mapped car?

What's the best one, and where from?

An alternative I found to buying the whole mount is to replace just the rubber. Black Forest Industries do an insert which you can replace yourself. I think Regal Autosport import them. Although I've not used it so I can't comment on its quality.

THS mounts are decent

Swapped a 2 month old genuine dogbone for a THS, instantly had better gear shift feel and more traction. Much less vibrations compared to polybushes as well.

Yes and we've said to replace it with a THS Peformance mount.

It's not the upper gear box mount; its an engine mount

hmmm i'm really struggling for cash at the moment. having to pay for a vr6 clutch sachs, and a lightweight flywheel as part of the ecs kit. which is £330.

i was thinking after reading that thread everyones saying the bush is 50% stiffer makes a huge difference etc, but surely that's compared to a fooked oem one? so replacing it anyway with an oem would feel alot better? can't argue with £28 when you don't have much cash although its not oem its ebay LOL...

tough decisions...

If you're on a budget why don't you go for the BFI mount insert kit. You get a stage 1 mount for around the price of an OEM one with a bit of work to fit it in
