Title: Yet another problem..Brake bleeding
Post by: Xtrhardcore on 03 May 2012, 19:49
Right, well turns out earlier it was the rear hoses, so i've replaced both. But now i've bled both rear but i have no pedal?  its just going straight to the floor and it sounds like theres air coming out from the engine bay?

Can anyone tell me what the heck is  going on? 4 hours of frustration! Also, is there a specific way to bleed a GTi?

Cheers!

Better to do it with a pressure bleeder

You must follow the correct sequence when bleeding the brakes. Even if you don't touch the front brakes they still need bleeding

Ok just pick up the gunson hydronic brake bleeder so will try sort tomorrow. Any tips on the reservoir? Does the cap have to be open etc?

Yes, as you have to keep the level at the top otherwise you'll end up dragging air through the system and risk blowing the seals in the master cylinder.

Haha cause at the moment I can quite easily push the pedal to the floor with no stopping resistance at all

unless you have someone handy i would use a pressure brake bleeder. if theres an issue with pressure and blown seals you could always turn the pressure down

The post above was right . I bled my brake and they were still crap until I bled them at the two nipples on the master cylinder , then they were mint

Gunsons Eezi-Bleed kit and this guide (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=130033.0) every time :afro:

Just make sure you keep the bottle topped up and do the two nipples on the MC and you will be OK, just resist the temptation to pump the pedal - too easy to flip the seals
