Title: advice on buying a gti turbo needed

Hi all, well as it sez above I need some buying advice on a gti im thinking of getting ive been told it needs a n75 valve because its not boosting but having never owned 1 or worked on 1 im not sure if this is even anything to do with it not boosting, also could some 1 tell me where I can find the engine code on it please and what else I should look out for.

what year is the car an is there any lights on the dash

hi its a 1999 no lights on dash as far as im aware (havent seen it in person yet)

engine code will be on a sticker in the boot or take engine cover off and there will be a white sticker on there with it on and it will be stamped on the block at the front with it on  :smiley:

Nice 1 thanks is there anything else I should b looking out for? And is it right what I was told about the n27 valve affecting its boost?

Get someone to scan it for any fault codes.

I brought a fault code reader for my mk4 1.6 se that should fit it shouldnt it?

Yes also check that the cambelt and waterpump have been replaced.

Honda parts are ridiculous, I drive an EP3 Type R now lol but notalots broke just my window mech on drivers side.. 180 quid from main dealer for new one!!!!!!!!!  :angry:

Anyways back on target I used this checklist I collated when I bought my Golf years back which may give you an insight of stuff to check:
