Title: Front Grille VW badge?

Lads-I'm a Mk5 owner-have pity on my lardy ass...

I want to ask you experts:
What colour was the original Mk1 front badge? Black or silver? I've looked on the net and seen both, so would like a definitive answer.

Mk1 GTI tintops and mk2 GTIs had black front vw badges.
Mines only silver as I changed it in 1990 for the one off my mk1 1.1C I had. I do also have a brand new black oem one to fit some day.
