Anyone had a 'powerflow' exhaust system fitted to their mk1/cabrio? Just wondered what options you went for i.e
Any boxes removed (effect on sound and performance), any increase in bore and what tail pipe?
As my cab isn't an everyday car I was contemplating removing a box (as long as the increase in sound isn't too OTT), possibly increasing the bore (if there is any advantage to be gained, although I doubt there will be as I will still be limited by the downpipe itself) and going for a slightly larger tailpipe - but nothing too 'max power', more subtle.

Rich, had one fitted to mine the other month, I asked them to tone it down so it wasn't corsa boy loud and they did just that, so much so that now I think it's not loud enough !  It has a little rumble when I boot it but that's about it and even then it's not really loud and on the motorway it's fine and not overly noisey. I put on the plain tail pipe, about 2 1/2 inch and it looks subtle. I dont honestly know what they did to keep the sound down but they did exactly as I asked them to do.  Click here Rich --> http://www.powerflow.uk.com/newtailpipes.html I've got the Ri63 (first one) on mine but I quite liked the R076 3" (second one) but thought it would look too big, I probably would have gone for that now in hindsight. If you need anymore info just let us know.

Brilliant, just out of curiosity how much did you pay? I'm guessing around £250 to £300, am I close?
...........just going to look a those tailpipes

Are you going to bring the cabrio to any shows or are you bringing the bus to all of them? I'd be really keen to look at the system that they have put on your cab.

Aye was about £300, couldn't tell you exactly as I got four new tyres too so got a bit of a discount, was an expensive day though, I couldn't find anywhere round here that did it for less than 300 notes. I'm doing the dayers in the cabby, so Leeds and GTI festival and the weekenders in the camper. If you are going to either of those two then have a looksy no problem.

Ok, well I really would like to look at your system before taking the plunge myself so, as if I need much of an excuse, I will probably come along to GTI festival

ive got one on mine and its REALLY LOUD!!!
it doesnt sound like a saxo tho

I had Poweflow modify the tailpipe on a mongoose back box, and remove the cetre silencer. It was a top job, but my car does sound a little bit louder than most.....

When you hear an unmodified mk2 go up the track and then compare it with a mk1 going up the track, the mk2 sounds a lot better. The mk2, I believe, has a larger bore exhaust and is less restrictive, which may account for that. Thats all I'm looking for, nothing as extreme as a Subaru or similar.

Thing is with the Powerflows Rich is that they are "bespoke" so I guess one system can be different to another as you really are in the hands of the person doing it and if they are crap at welding etc then it might not be as good as someone else's, if you catch my drift.

If they are crap at welding then they will get a lot of revisits to get it put right. When I had my Audi one done they did a top job and I only needed to go back for the re-inspection to keep the guarantee up to date. I suppose with them at least if you're not happy you can fork out a little more and customize it to exactly what you do want i.e change the tailpipe, do 'something' to make it noisier/quiter.

I've got a lifetime warranty on mine for as long as I have the vehicle so I guess it is in their best interest to get the bugger right first time.

Thats normal and the same as I had on the Audi, but you do have to go back every year, within a certain timespan, and get them to restamp the inspection card, otherwise the lifetime warranty is invalid.

Aye every twelve months I think it is. They are going to be well p1ssed off when I go back in 15 years time for a replacement though.
