Title: Running Rich 8V Mk2
Post by: 8vAde on 01 May 2012, 22:04
HELP SOMEONE!

8V mk2 gti running rich.  Plugs sooting up.  Having problems starting and smelling of petrol and clouds of smoke out of exhaust when it does start.  Runs ok once started and revved a few times.  Had a new exhaust a couple of weeks ago, everything from downpipe back.  Found a split in air intake hose, between air filter and engine and have duck taped it up temporarily.

Any suggestions as to what I should look at???

Oh, and by the way..... I have got new plugs, ht leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm.

HELP HELP HELP!

Thanks

having the same problem with mine.
Have you tried the hall sensor? ive got one on order?

have a look at my post on here and see what ive tried that might give you a lead but im pretty stumped myself.

Do you often run it to no petrol in the tank as it could have sucked up a load of crap from the fuel tank?

lemme know how you get on?

Dave

yeah its a digi 1988 on an E plate. oil temporature is normally around 88-92c.
I have ordered a Hall sensor just to be sure. I will have then changed the entire ignition nearly : /
Hows yours bud any joy?
