Title: Changing a worn seat cover
Post by: Bobo125 on 06 June 2005, 13:02
Hello, I've just got my hands on a replacement seat cover (lower part) and was wondering how tricky these are to fit. Does anybody know if it can be done without taking the seat to bits?
Thanks very much

In a word, no.  The base of the seat needs to be separated from the back, and then stripped down.  The cover is wired into the foam base and this needs to be removed with some care.  Is the cushion in good nick?  Sounds unlikely if the cover is gone, but you may be lucky.  You will need some long nose pliers to unhook the wire from the embedded rings in the seat cushion, and some time to do it in.  Not brain surgery at all, just be patient.

Good luck!

Hi,

the seat cushion is in pretty good nik, this car has only had one elderly owner before me and is mint.

You say you have to take the seat apart, how? To put my auto skills into context, well I can add petrol and pump up tyres, anything else, no chance.

Could anybody supply an idiots guide, otherwise I'm paying to have it done.

Thanks once again

Rob
