Title: Just ordered one of these (jvc double din)
Post by: jnufcuk on 01 May 2012, 13:55
Just ordered myself one of these thanks to the link from rich  :cool:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_770523_langId_-1_categoryId_265857?storeId=10001&tduid=bd7177c20c5e3f73574be87961b3fbf0&_%24ja=kw%3A1503186%7Ctsid%3A35533&msg=&cm_mmc=Affiliates-_-TradeDoubler-_-1503186-_-banner&catalogId=10151

Is it a straight wireup jobby lol, don't want to pay halfrauds £30 to fit it lol. Will I also need a surround?

Thanks

i didn't think it would be possible to fit without the fascia linked above, as the stereo is smaller than the hole in the dash?

maybe this is a better picture to understand
(http://i.ebayimg.com/00/$(KGrHqUOKpwE25gr1mCfBN)++PcY+g~~_12.JPG)

it reduces the size of the hole, so double din unit can be pushed into it and secured.

i may be wrong though?

needs a wiring harnessnot sure which one, dont have time to search for you (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/categorydisplay_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_categoryId_265876_langId_-1). and a areal adaptor. (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/HalfordsProductDetailsLiteView?storeId=10001&langId=-1&productId=176311&cm_sp=Intelligent_Offer-_-Product_Details_Zone_2-_-Blank&iozone=PDPz2&TB_iframe=true&TB_C_ID=productdetails&TB_C_TITLE=Halfords%20Aerial%20Adaptor%20PC5-29&width=800)
and possibly a signal splitter

if you go in store they will tell you what you need, they used to have a button on there website saying what you needed to buy. but they dont seem to have it any more

Shouldnt be too hard to connect. Getting the standard one out is fun, Make sure you have got the keys to do it. Just got to remember to switch the yellow and red wire connectors over if when you plug it all in it doen't remembr your presents.

You are probably also going to need an aerial amp, as the gamma units have them built in.

i think all new head units use iso connectors i bought one for my golf and then looked at plug which was the same in the car but was seperate as opposed to one peice like iso connector, one plug does all your power and ignition and stuff and the other is all your speakers, i returned it in the end and saved £15 i think, but with iso connector its plug and play if you need one and very easy to do, gone are the days of chopping up half your wiring and then soldering on new wires and tracing which speaker is which, one thing ariel adaptor you will need then again some come in the box only about £2 :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

Should not need a harness, it will plug straight in.
