Title: For anyone that's having problems with dodgy idle..
Post by: simon_709 on 01 May 2012, 09:29
Recently I cleaned my throttle body and put it back together and everything was fine, until this saturday when I disconnected the positive and negative from the battery, when I connected it again the idle was really lumpy and kept dropping etc, checked everything and couldn't figure out what it was,  I went to vw and asked and they said that when u clean out the throttle body it resets the idle position, so when u put it back together it will run lumpy until its been reset, so what I did was drive 100miles on one trip last night and now it runs perfect because the ecu has learnt how to idle properly again after being reset,  some people might read this and think yeah I know that already lol, but just thought I'd give some feedback as I know this is a common problem.  :)

You can also use vag com to reset it, save 100 miles worth of fuel  :lipsrsealed:

if your throttle body needed cleaning. imagine what your intercooler is like. flush that, losing hp man. ;)
