Fans of Skrillex are not fans of dubstep.
This is my good mate, he gets on a few compilations, more dark bass than what most people think of dubstep.

Im a big fan of dubstep   :embarassed: , Some of my favorite artist are:

Mt Eden
SubFocus
Seven Lions
KillSonic
Gemini
Sam Wire

But to be perfectly honest mate you cant get anything better dubstep remixes. So many different types of dubstep (Hardcore, Soft, Moodstep etc etc) its kind of hard to put my finger on my favorite

Dub was good but now its terrible! Sounds like an out of control chainsaw - no imagination behind it.

Lounge/bass music is what you want:

Pheleah
Ghosts of Paraguay
Von D
Synkro

The word 'dubstep' (horrible wobble) is an embarrassing word and DJ's don't wish to be linked to it.

Thom - nail on the head with that one

TBH...Skrillex live is awful. He mis matches tracks and makes some awful sounding double drops. Had a few too many 'jumpy' needles for them to be all accidents. I think he is very much a work on it in the lab til it's perfect then release it to be only played how he made it.

Saying this I like his work

As said earlier, avoid individual artists (particularly full albums, more than 80% are sh!te) and look for mixes and live sets. If you want a quick and dirty intro to some decent stuff, find a copy of Caspa and Rusko at Fabric live and check out Russla's mixes that he linked up on here (do a search, bit more D&B really but similar vibe). Beyond that, you gotta do a lot of searching for decent stuff and go see people live. There really arent many better experiences than skanking your tits off in a scummy sh!thole club with a bunch of likeminded mentalists , beats the hell out of going to comercialised dance clubs and you get far less trouble than you might assume! Best tip for live gigs is to find a couch by a wall and feeeeeeel the bass! Avoid the Skrillex!

Dubstep is a fad made by losers who cannot admitt that they have no real musical talent. Avoid.

Dubstep started because a load of rich kids bought nice new £30k FK1 soundsystems and they wanted to show off how bassy they were so they wrote some bass heavy tunes which over a couple years became dubstep.

It actually originated in croydon (dubstep as its now known, it did start more around 1999 in a club) Benga and Skream used to battle on a radio station for best tunes, they met up and collaborated. Boom - dubstep.

Most of the artists in here are closer to DnB, knife party is also more drumstep (half time drum and bass) Music has diversified loads and dubstep has split into loads of genres. Skrillex has brought it to the masses, which is why he is hated, but he has some well produced music.

Generally people that dont like it are old or ignorant. They are stuck in the past listening to house music i usually found, people that like house hate everything else. I like house but it has its place.

But yeah , Skream, Benga, Rusko, Caspa God fathers of dubstep i'd say.

Ruskos new album is pretty damn good. Worth checking out.
