The first photos inside the showroom I thought definitely not,but as soon it's revealed outside,in my opinion it looks great.

Agree with mkviken, these wud look good on a darker blue golf...
I think the black on a already dark car is to much...

like them (the colour not the wheel style)
-
Black on blue no way, to dark and no contrast. The black alloys won't look so good after 10k or so...

I love that R, it shouldn't work i but it does for me. I'm not to sure about black monza's on a shadow blue gti though.
-
Not a fan of them on the Shadow Blue. I've seen black wheels on other dark blue cars and they have worked better. I think it's because Shadow Blue is one of those colours that needs the right light and angle to really bring out it's hue. Personally I'd go with Anthracite wheels but you'll need to get the same shade as the Shadow Blue. If your Anthracite is too light the wheels will attract too much attention. It's probably better to err on the darker side but Anthracite is definitely what I'd go for.
As for the BBS rims you posted a pic of, I quite like the style.
-
Not for me either.
Not a fan of the number plate either. I like personal plates, but that one is a real poor effort.
-
not a fan of the black on shadow/night blue, always a difficult colour to do justice in a photograph and for me i'd stick with the silver or a smoked chrome on these, in reality i've seen an ed35 in this colour with the shell finish rims and didn't do it for me, my dealer has a 3 door R in steel tray with black rims and it looks immense
-
Shadow blue is rather dark so I'd prefer a silver wheel for contrast.
-
Agreed about the plate.
-
Looks like a real sleeper imo, not to my taste and the just looks daft.
-
Agreed the black doesn't look good, be brave and go white
-
just saw a rising blue R on the road with black wheels and it looked crap IMO.
-
I've really mixed views with the black wheels on blue Golfs
Looking at the car from a distance I don't like the black that much, and prefer the silver.
However when I'm up close to the car I like the black wheels ! It matches all the other black trim and looks good IMHO
Crazy I know  ... but I've felt like that for a few months now, having had both on my R

JonnyG, have you two sets of wheels or did you get your factory wheels painted black?I don't see many Mk6 GTI's and even less R's knocking about, yours looks a cracker.

Much prefer the silver ones tbh...
-
I really like the blacks ones....
-
Owning a shadow blue with the charleston shadows and seeing it in all the lights, and this is a colour paint that changes very dramatically with different light conditions as you know. I always wish the shadows were lighter.......
-
If my wheels ever get damaged,I'm going black.
-
oddly on a rising blue the black works better on a golf r rather than rocco, i think the silver 19s look superb on RB, all be satin anthracite for the win

Thanks .... I got lucky as just when my first set of tyres on OEM silver alloys were down to 3mm I found a set of OEM black alloys with original factory tyres (6mm tread) on Ebay. The total cost was not a lot more than a new set of 4 tyres which I would have needed to buy anyway (and the 19" tyres are not cheap!) The seller was fairly local to me, so I went to have a look and ended up buying the black set. I polished them up a bit and stuck them on in January.
I'm still undecided which I like best with Rising Blue
I still have the silver alloys as well, which I will probably keep until I sell the car.
-
They both look good but I prefer the Silver which look much bigger.

no thanks
