Hiya!
i've just bought a mk2 golf, not a gti... not yet anyway, maybe when i'm a wee bit older and can afford to do it! I bought a mk2 golf 1.6 driver, it's totally standard - as far as i know. The pooor thing was a rite off, but with a bit of tlc we've changed brake pads and 2 discs, new bulbs, brake pipe, and fixed a blowing exhaust, now it's passed it's m.o.t and need to go for a VIC chec, then hopefully ic an get on the road. Thbody work isn't immaculate, there are a few dings, but for a J-reg it ain't bad! luckily i've got a mate who will remove all dings for £25 so im ok there!
There is an alarm fitted, but when i bought the car (from a salvage yard) we didn't get a key fob, so i guess that calls for a phonecall tomorrow to the number on the sticker inthe window!
wel.. ater i've finished tellin u pointless rubbish,
i'm just wanting to know if anyone has any ideas what size wheels etc will look best, im a total noobie, and im after a swet lookin car to turn boys heads!
Hope someone can give me some hints... thanx

Best thing to do would be to go to one of the shows coming up and have a look round to get an idea what you personally like and go from there!

Good advice and as you are from Yorkshire you could go to the show that it as Harewood house in Leeds on the 26th of this month.

I also havea 1.6 mate, If your looking for ideas on how to make your car a little "different" then check out my dub projects section:

Its possible to style a Mk2 golf differentally to the norm and still remain subtle, its not easy however. But defintally worth it.

is the VIC check in peterborough?
as for wheels
16x9'' the f**kker
-
Also don't be afraid to ask. Noone was born with the knowledge of engines although certain memebers (morning 6) would tell you differently.
Also the scrap yard is a great place to learn - you can go in there and pull something apart to see how it works - just don't ruin too much stuff and esp not anything thats saught after - like a rocco
-
my nearest VIC check is beveryley i think... bout an hours drive away to get to my nearest two.... this is taking soo long! i just wanna get my scrappy car on the raod and then find the money to get her sorted.. wheels first.. well alarm first.....
-
Buy a good crook lock too, I'd recommend a disklock type jobbie to cover the whole steering wheel, just for extra peace of mind, but they're not cheap but deffo worth it.
-
I'm so excited... just can't wait to gt work in prgress..... it loks so much better than havin nothin done!!! it's like christmas!!! LOL

Aw Sarah man, you need to put your foot down and get some teddy bear alloys if you want some, it's the 21st century you know.  I even hear that women can vote these days.

get some nice bbs rims 15 or 16 get it slammed on a cheap kit, get a nice back box and some clear head lights ( single bar grill) and if you have enough cash get some g60 arches! sweet! oh and wash and polish it to fook! nice!
-
If your still in need after summer i might be able to help you out suspension and a few other bits wise, as i am going coilover on mine.
Single wiper, i have an old VAG motor with the wiper arm and everything needed to do it. Will sell it cheap if you are desperate, depends on how much you need it though, might be easier to give it to you (oo er) at a show if i see you at one. As postage from surrey to yorks will not be cheap.
Good luck with it though
