Hi am a new member and need a bit of help.
The other day my mk golf gti (8v) starting putting out a bit of smoke from the exhaust while driving along and i noticed a bit of oil leaking from the engine above the sump. I was told that the valve stem oil seals may have gone but today it started to missfire, running on 3 cylinders.
Does anyone have any tips or help to help me sort out the problem
Thanks...

Welcome to the forum mate, I would suggest posting your problem in both the mk2 and garage sections, as you will get a better response from the more technically minded members of this forum there.

No expert but if it smokes worse after being stood for a while probably is the valve stem oil seals. Had same problem on an XR2 (back in the dim and distant ford days - never again!) and new seals sorted it straight away. If you're topping it up with oil regularly thats probably what it is. Cheap and easy job to do yourself if you have to.

Good stuff, cheers mate, i had to top up the oil yesterday and on friday. hopefully it will only be the stem oil seals and not the piston rings or ought
