Right when I had the engine bay open earlier i decided to check my coolant and found it filled with crap.

White ish on the top and when i put my fibger in it was brown (lol!)
So obviously oil in my coolant (again)
Around a year ago this happened and i changed my oil cooler as it was the cause. Is it likely this could happen again, bought it new from gsf.

This has only happened within the last two weeks.

Iv been having some bad running issues lately too. was over winter, just a misfire and lack of power, changed leads, sparks, coil relay 30 and it was fine for a few weeks, now came back so I though relay 167 to change but that clicks fine when the ignition is on crank (the misfire has been happening longer than the oil)

I hate to ask but likelihood of head gasket gone?

one of my 16v abf mk3s did this

ended up like this, and the car died whilst i as 10 miles away from home

Could be a crap quality part from GSF

Flush it out and see if it comes back, easy way to confirm if it is the cooler again is to bypass it.

Answer to OP's question, try bypassing oil cooler as Wayne already said  :smiley:

the misfiring comes and goes though, i think its the dizzy for that as happens more in bad weather.

last month i covered 2000 miles in 3 weeks and didnt miss a beat, even had a 800mile round trip to belguim and was fine.

i think its the cooler again as just had a drive in it,

heated up to 90 at its usual rate (5-10 minutes) stayed there didnt go above at all and i drove for a fair bit, no bad smell or anything too.

Looked in the expantion tank and can see theres still water in there.

Going to flush it tomorrow, how can i bypass the oil cooler?

so you are not loosing water and your oil dont have coolant in it? maybe it is the cooler then if you no from experience before it could well be.
