Title: Starting Problem mk2 gti
Post by: SHAKSTER on 30 September 2003, 17:00
When i turn my gti to ignition on, i don't hear the fuel pump. Normally you hear the fuel pump for about 2 seconds until it is cut out by the fuel relay.
When this happens, i cant start the car. I have changed the fuel relay but no joy.

Any ideas?  ???

I assume you have checked the fuse.
I would get a voltmeter on the terminals of the fuel pump and see if you're getting a 12V supply to the pump for 2 seconds when you switch the ignition on. If not, could be pump at fault.

Thx mate, i have worked it out. My alarm has a dodgy connection. The fuel pump wire is connected to the immobiliser. As it is dodgy, i have bypassed this and now it starts.
