Just received a recall notice from VW stating :-
Safety Action - Golf 2010 Diesel Injection Pipe.
'On vehicles with a 2ltr TDI common rail engine of a certain production period, resonances in certain operating conditions could over the long term cause cracks on a Diesel injection pipe.'
Goes on to say that its unlikely, but in extreme circumstances fuel could leak from the crack.... No instances of failure have been reported so this is just precautionary.
No mention of what the 'certain production period' is though and it would appear to apply to all 2 ltr TDI common rail engines??

Mines a 12 plate, I haven't received any sort of recall yet but do you think I shud give them a call to see if it might affect mine?

The recall actually states Golf 2010, so perhaps this wouldn't concern your 2012 model. I'd think if it *did* apply to yours, they'd soon be contacting you.... Don't Panic

Mines an August 2010, (well, first registered in August) so perhaps earlier cars don't have the same injection pipe?!?
I contacted the dealer and as a convenient date can't be booked at the moment, I suggested they do it at service time around June/July which they said was fine.

Mine is being serviced for its second time on Sat. Will see what they say when I turn up.

IIRC the dealer said that they have to check by law - at service time - to ensure all recalls have been done, so whether they mention it to you after the event....?
There's no 'recall No' on my letter you can quote to them, just:-
Safety Action - Golf 2010 Diesel Injection Pipe.
Let us know how you fare...
