it very much depends on the car tbh... ive had some good offers for mine but i choose not 2 sell as i like the car and i cant think of another that would give me the enjoyment.... but they do vary from a few hundred quid to well into 3-4k obviously minters though for that kinda money

kings totally right, i think there price ain't gonna get lower... if anything it'll increase as they become more rare and oldskool... its such an iconic car

they do still look awesome and are getting more desirable so prices are increasin.
Would have loved to get my hands on one but damn insurance companies prevent me from realising my true potential as a gti-er.

i never really paid much attention to them before i got my mk4 now i kind of want one as a second car so dont want to pay that much and want a standard one.
does anyone know if you can be the main driver on 2 cars? and if i bought one would my fully comp insurance cover me to drive it but only as 3 party or would i need another premium
cheers Deano

You'll have to insure it seperately as your fully comp insurance on your first car will say that you are insured to drive any car TP that is not owned by or rented by you, something like that. :undecided: Yes you can be the main driver on as many cars and policies as you like and they ask you if you have access to other vehicles anyway. If you get a mk2 you could try a limited mileage classic car insurance and that will be a lot lower premium, for example I pay about £240 for a 5k limited mileage on my camper, it would be a lot less (£150 tops) but it's "been modded"

Not sure what age the vehicle has to be for a classic insurance, but I'd say a mk2 might be old enough to fall into that category. :undecided: Go to smiths at lunchtime and look through some of the air cooled mags, like Volksworld, VW motoring and a few others that I can't remember and get some insurance numbers from the adverts in those. Actually, just give these a try and ask them the questions, these were the cheapest for my camper, they are called Faber Jardine or something and they are on 01604 639011.
