Theres a wineing noise thats coming from the rear of the car some people have sed its the fuel pump! is that true?????
-
Could be that or the central lcoking pump.
Has it got fuel in it?
When does it do it?
-
The car has fuel, as soon as you turn the car on it the nosie starts.
-
Ping
-
Fuel pump should run for a few secconds with the ignition, then stop and start again as the engine is cranked, lift the boot carpet up, put the rear seats down and see if its louder, if its louder then its going to be the fuel pump.
-
If it is the fuel pump, how much can i pick up one for?

£60-ish from euro.
Thats the full pump if i remember because you can buy separate parts
-
How noisy is it? because its normal for it to whine, is the cover plate on and the boot floor down? as that acts as soundproofing for it, also might be worth popping it out and checking the gauze isnt clogged up, My old 8v used to have a noisey pump but it never caused any issues.

ive just been driving the car & the car cuts out at stand still.. does it a few time here n there,i put my foot down & it kinda wants to decrease in power & cutt off.... still wines like a monster.... the rear carpet & seats have been out for a long time ...the feul pressure regulator has been changed from 3bar to 4 bar to ease the pressure but still the wining noise is there.

On the weekend i went to get the car checked over. The guy said the car is over fueling he check the plugs and they were coved with petrol. the car is also blowing out alot of black smoke.
the car has a 4 bar fuel reg, it was advised to change it to 3 bar.
-
when was last time that you serviced the car?
-
Are vr fuel rails 3bar standard?
-
I Thought they were 4bar standard tbh... However not 100%
-
tbh the car has been sitting in the garage for abt 6 months and the last service was over a yr ago but the last few week i have been driving it! it has been running nice but now jus running very bad!
iam not sure if the the vr6 fuel rails come 3bar or 4bar as standard but the fuel rail has not been touched!
iam just gonna give it a nice service and see from there i guess may put a 3bar fuel reg instead of the 4bar thats in there.
-
i think early vr6 1992ish was 4 bar ,the later ones 1996 onwards have 3bar
obd1 4 bar
obd2 3 bar

Sounds like your fuel pump is about to snuff it.
-
Its when it goes quite you need to start worrying
