Title: wheel has play
Post by: km on 26 April 2012, 11:23
my front passenger wheel has play in it. my mot was a month ago, and during that month i've had a new set of coilovers, driveshaft, and 2 wheel bearings.

the wheel play is at 12 and 6. when i shake the wheel, i can only see a slight (but not large amount) of movement on the outer cv joint, could this be the cause?

the driveshaft has no rotational play. and the wheel bearing does not make any sort of noise when driving.

mine was doing the same and it turned out to be steering rack ends and track rod ends

rack end and track rods would give 9 and 3 play surely :undecided:

and they seemed pretty stiff to me.

as above.. balljoint or top mount id say mate! get somone to move the wheel so it has play then feel the balljoint and see if you can feel it, then do the same on the rack end
