Title: Cruise control in a 54 plate GTI
Post by: Rhyso on 25 April 2012, 20:25
Got a mate with a 54 plate GTI who wants cruise control fitted. Is it just a case of replacing the stalk or is a new steering module required?

New stalk + Vagcom to enable i believe

Dealer quoted me £210ish
I'm having these guys come around and do it for £165 (£150 + 60p a mile I think), so depends where you are

I know others offer this service to.

Mine is a 57 plate, but I don't think it's different on earlier examples

if i remember right the GTIs all had MFA so the steering module should be ok. You can check the part number with vagcom though. Pre 2006 i believe you need to add the extra wire which is a bit of a pain.
