what u need

I need to know what colour wires go where on the plug that powers the interior light. It requires the interior light taking out though...
Also could you tell me how it's controlled? For example this is my guess,
0 switch position - no courtesy light,
middle switch position - courtesy and map lights on when opening doors
1 switch position - courtesy and map lights on permanently
Do the red backlights on the switches turn on with the headlights?
Many thanks if you can answer any of my queries
