My brother can do the conversion no probs, so i would save money getting the work done.
I'm just thinking, do i just sell mine, buy a 1.8t and save a load of hassle or do i convert it.
why does modifying your car get so out of hand so quick!
your help would be much appreciated.
-
just sell your car an buy 1 mate saves a load of time an trouble
-
Sell and buy a 1.8t for the money they cost now its seriously not worth the effort!
-
Sell it and buy one, much easier in the end.
-
Buy mine its already mapped etc so save you hassle of modding
-
I agree, i just love the colour of mine, i cant find a 1.8t in that colour! i think i will continue my search for a 1.8t in as good condition as mine! :)
i have also just looked at insurance for an R32, its only £300 extra a year! nuts!

I agree with selling yours and just buying another one BUT if your brother can do the conversion and your car is in good shape why not just pick up a cheap one take engine out then break the rest of it? Then Sara taking some of the mods uve done already over to the new one.
I'm glad your thinking sensibly as gettig a turbo one now
-
Dont build what you can buy  plenty of clean 1.8Ts out there if you look around.
-
save a bit more and get an anni

Ye don't rush. How long until your insurance runs out? U looking toget one modified or one with room for improvement
-
Got 5 month left on my insurance so maybe I'll wait to get my no claims!
If I find "the one" before then I'll just swap it over I suppose
-
Oh and I am not sure, it depends on if it's in good condition, I would prefer somebody to have shelled some of the money out first haha

Ye wait mate. I did. Well actually I found one about a month before my insurance was due up so just sorned it stuck it on driveway then done the small mods like de badge, radio cage etc
Having a 1yrs no claims will help especially if u want one with mods

If your brother could do the conversion and a decent 1.8t sourced - BAM with all the ancillaries for a reasonable amount then might be worth doing if your car is in decent condition and have already spent a bit on it.
-
convert it then you could say its built not brought, anyone can buy one that's just boring.
-
Make it your own
Convert it and if you have someone to help itl cost you pennies.
Engines can be picked up for about £600 easy with everything included mate.

There's an auq on ed38 for £750ish everything included iirc

I'm currently watching one on eBay at the moment. All wiring looms, gearbox the lot!
82k miles with history!

The conversion is really easy.
AGU is prop the easiest conversion it has the cable throttle.
An it is the cheapest to buy out of the 1.8t's.
If you did buy one, whilst the engine is out I would rip all the PCV system out and replace with catch can.
Drain the oil, take sump off and clean/replace the pick up pipe.
Full service.
Replace timing belt along with water pump etc
Maybe port the standard exhuast mani and put back on (Better flow before remap)
You will not have to touch the engine for a VERY long time then that way.
The last thing you want to do is fit the engine an one of the above failing on you mate.

I just did a conversion on mine and to be honest it was easy just got stuck on a few minor things but luckly there are plenty of people to help on here. And deffinutly replace the pcv lot as I didn't and can't drive it untill my new parts arrive.
