Title: Remote keyfob not working
Post by: svartalf on 04 June 2005, 16:33
I've just spent some time replacing a couple of bulbs (1 rear light and 1 brake) in my golf and now the remote keys have stopped working. There have been no signs of the batteries wearing out (eg having to stand near the car to disable/enable the alarm - but I'll pick up a new one tomorrow just to rule it out anyway) so I think there is another fault. (I've also tried the spare which didn't help).

The central locking works fine and the fuses look ok (although my fuse layout diagram seems to be a mirror image of reality) so I'm stuck for ideas.

If it has any bearing on it, I had a bit of a fiasco swapping the bulbs as the drivers side bulb panel left a bulb behind in the lens when I took it out and I had a right game recovering said bulb.

Any thoughts appreciated!!

There are posts on the net on how to reprogram the keys, try that :undecided:

Update: it's all gone to sh*t.
Another bulbs blown and the sunroof/windows/electric mirrors don't work now.
Bah...

Turned out it was one blown fuse that caused all this aggro I am relieved to say.
