Title: new tdi :) for ton bargin but has probs

Hi chaps just recnytly picked yup my white tdi the turbo is competly f**ked and loads of turbo smoke comes into play does any one know how i can change the turbo and have a spare ?? Also the bonet doesnt pop open from inside the car can any one advise me on how to get the bonet to open as well as  advice changing  the turbo would be great thanks many thanks

well if the bonnet wont open form inside the only option will be to try and pop the front grill out i think but also take the handle of the lever and try plulling just the cable connected to it mate

and managed to pop it so far but and it has poped up biut wont open i notice where the bonet clips in to its hold on by some hex bolts is it worth undoing these ? in order to pop it off and have a look in see whats what ??

re the bonnet are you lifting it up to get the tab to poke out? Pull that and it will open.

Confused me for AGES  :laugh:.

If you have then good luck in sorting it.

yeah mate i am what makes it worse is the fact that the grills of the car as well as the pul handle so may have to take the latch off and und o the bolts  :sad:

what hp engine is it? is it a pd or non pd version? sounds like the tab bit that comes out the grill has broken off. i reckon you be able to undo the hex bolts and lift the whole mechanism out enough to unclip it by hand. itll still be attached to the cable though, but u might be able to remove the cable from the latch once its been undone from the slam panel

Thanks Dan nice one man thats what my plan to do its a early p d model 1999 5 door its smokeing after being ran for 5 mins i smells so dunno weather its the turbo or a oil leak burning of the injectros. But untill ive got the bonet up im not a hundred percent sure  :sad:
