we've never changed it or had to top it up but the other day it was getting low so i got some slick 50
power steering fluid... as it says it stops leaks etc... the front pipes seaping slightly! so it should help that..
i think it says some vw stuff in the manual.... the haynes says dexron 2 atf! i was going to change it but i didnt want to go the dealer! but i noticed that it was clear stuff in it..... so it must be the vw stuff.... possibley be the pentosin chf 11s........
is it worth getting the vw stuff or sticking atf in it........
like with the gear oil i find that shop stuff is better than genuine factory stuff. as we all know aftermarket pads etc are better than standard!....... if i use dealer stuff it p***** me off that i have to keep going the stealer dealer everytime i need some! and i have to walk through the stupid show room and press a door bell on a desk and then someone comes to you and asks what you need mates stud there 20min before some came!!. i also dont like the dealer as they are ripping people off they charged my mates £320 to replace a crank sensor!. they didnt even have to take the oil filter off etc the part was only £120 charged 170 to fit it.. but he didnt have much choise as we had to tow it there but there orignal price was £280
i can go independant garage but i'm not sure what stuff they use as i've never had any......... i'll have to ask them.....

U can only use a mineral fluid G002000 from vag else it will rot the seals in the pump and in time you will have a bigger bill for a pump. For the sake of 6.49 plus vat visit the main dealer asap.

cheers..... quite a few people have said that.. buts its funny that vw used atf in the mk2's and now using the pentosin hydrolic oil! but nothing went wrong with the mk2 pumps!
.. that the pentosin chf 11 ...i'll go and get some... to be on the safe side!
