Title: ohh no this might not be good.
Post by: cooki2 on 21 April 2012, 19:24
Hello again lol, basically I just removed the 90 black pipe coming off the right side of the top of the engine by the inlet manifold and was greeted with a load of mayonaise looking gunk. Could this really mean the head gasket? I haven't really lost any water but bearing I mind I only finished the conversion yesturday so only drove for about an hour because there was a warning message coming up on the dash saying stop oil press. I really hope this isn't the gasket. Any ideas? Thanks again mike.

is there oil in the coolant??

does the creamy stuff look like this? 15th pic down

oil pressure light tends to mean the oil pick up pipe has blocked.

It kind of looks like it yes but there is also a lot of gritty black sludge in there too, there is nothing in the coolant and have pulled the dipstick out and the oil is nice and clear, do u think this is just years of bilud up of crap or is it something more serious? How do I post pics?

the oil way to tell if its head gasket is get a sniff test done on the coolant.

I dont think its the head gasket mate, I said the PCV system seems abit clogged as that 90degree pipe was in a bad state.
What you need to do either
1- rip out the pipework from the oil fitler housing upto the rocker cover and inlet and replace with Catch can http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/269734.aspx

2- rip it all out check which pipework is blocked and replace what needs replacing I would think the pcv valve would need replacing too.

This is due to the previous owner not keeping upto servicing the car as it should be done. ie oil changes on a regular basis. I maybe wrong but with my expierence thats mostly the problem.

I would suggest dropping the oil and filter replace with new, take the sump off and replace/clean the pick up pipe. After this it SHOULD run oright I know the feeling your going through though mate its a nightmare but it WILL be worth it lol
