Title: Temp sensor part number problem..
Post by: SlammedGTI on 21 April 2012, 19:01
We all know the common problem with the temp sensor so I went to GSF and got one the other day.

Part No: 93494C
GSF No: 929VG0160

It's the Blue top one.

Anyway my previous problems was it getting up to temperature (90) and then dropping to 0. Standard problem.

Now I changed it over today with a new 'o' ring and retainer. I've done 70 miles on it with mixed driving and it's not getting up to temperature, it's getting 1 third of the way to 90 and then when sitting in traffic it gets 2 thirds to 90 and then fluctuates between 1/3 (to 90) and 2/3's. Not dropping down to 0.

So have I got the wrong part number ? faulty part ?

I've got a 1998 S' reg 1.8T GTI.

Thanks

You sure ? Definitely not the wrong part ? As I have a feeling it's meant to be the green top one ?
