Title: Alloy wheel cleaning
Post by: kahunajb on 21 April 2012, 18:44
Got some marks on my alloys which I just cant seem to shift. They were refurbished less than a year ago so it's really annoying me

Currently clean them most weekends and have started waxing them (not special wheel sealant), but should have done this straight away really. Anyway have also tried Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover which has worked on some but just can't shift these.

Any suggestions please?

Give them a real good dosing with tar remover, leave it to dwell for ages. If that doesn't work then try some de ironizer, that stuff shifts all sorts, mainly metal deposits which that could be...

All you need is some Megs Scratch X or similar mild scratch remover. I occasionally use it to remove minor blemishes from the paintwork. It leaves a swirl-free glass smooth finish so no need to worry about damaging the finish on your wheels.

Rub some cutting compound on on ie g3 or g6 if that dont budge it try a quick flat with 2000 grit then g3 or g6 again that's what I'd do or thinners then a quick buff

Cheers. Tried iron x on it and it is less noticeable but not completely gone.
