Title: Mk1 golf gti wpiers
Post by: trevillp on 30 September 2003, 13:04
Does anyone know if its possible to fit a better wiper motor onto my golf gti as the wipers go at an incredibly slow speed?

Any thoughts?

Its probably more the mechanism than the motor itself, Remove the whole thing off the car and clean it up. the spindles have no doubt started to seize up and need attention. when its all off connect the motor back to the wiring  and turn the wipers on, that will tell you if the motor is on the way out.

My wipers were very slow on my cabrio.........also kept blowing the fuse. Did just what modulator is suggesting, removed all the linkage, cleaned it all up and regreased it. Made a huge difference and the current it drew halved!  :o

I did it yesterday on my cab, and wow!, they dont need me pushing them back down the screen!
word of advice-make sure you dont lose the rubber rings which sit just inside the spindle tubes-obviously go some way to stop the water/crap getting in. ;)
