Does anyone know how much roughly you would get for an engine at a scrap dealers? Don't want to lug it all the way up there for a fiver :grin:

Not sure how much. ide make a guess at 50 but wouldnt have a clue.
however what else are you going to do with it. might aswell take it up. anything you get is a bonus.

steel/cast iron is about £100 per ton. engine block prob worth about £7.50

really is it that little?! my mate got about £40 for a seised corsa engine the other week :s either hes telling porkies or mr scrap man was feeling very generous

i get around 13-15p per kg for iron from the yards around here
non magnetic stuff tends to get a lot of cash

What engine and whats wrong with it?
maybe offer it to a garage for a small amount to entice them to rebuild it and flog it on?

its 400 a ton for a full engine, part engine they do half price..
I had just an engine block from a fiat 1.2 8v.. I got the part price and made 27 quid..
this was 3 weeks ago..
light iron is roughly 160 a ton atm
