Title: R32 and R line rear bumper owners .....
Post by: AD1.8T on 19 April 2012, 16:13
Quick favour can anyone with either of the above measure the gap between the outsides of the exhaust cutouts from side to side if that makes sense ?

I have a plan brewing :D

Your plan is to convert an R32 bumper to fit the R-line insert and produce your very own R-line rear bumper at approximately half the price! :nerd:

^

Where can you buy the inserts? and would you have to chop up the R32 bumper with the twin slots for the exhauts to do this?

Hmm, i am intrigued as to what your plan is

The only reason i said what i said, was because i considered (for about two n a half minutes ) attempting this with my genuine R32 rear bumper :undecided: Then i thought it was too much of a gamble on a genuine bumper to piss about with, also, i like the standard r32 rear with my Milltek R32 system

Back to your original request; if it stops pissing it down with rain, i'll go measure up the bumper (which should be on my car, but is cutting a lonely figure in the back garden) :lipsrsealed:

Well if it all measures up it will deffinitly be original  if you could measure from the bottom of the bumper to the top of the hole things and the bit in the first post it would be hugely appretiated !

Until i find out the size of this diffuser/valance/insert what ever you want to call it nothing will be happening its just food for thought and could be a very expensive mistake if it goes wrong ..... il need a rep r32 rear and the mistery item that alones going to cost ?200 ish then theres the whole fact of butchering the bumper to get it to fit soon as i get these other measuremens il let on to a bit more but i dont want to go running my mouth about ideas that may never happen but if it does work then itl still cost half the price of an r line and look very similer
Title: Re: R32 and R line rear bumper owners .....
Post by: sveed1.8T on 19 April 2012, 21:50
Ohhh, so essentially you'd be making your own insert, hence why you need the dimensions

Where's JohnnyTurbo?! I would have thought one sniff of R-line in a thread n he'd be all over this like a dog on heat, he is R-line guy after all!!

Post by: jonnyturbo on 19 April 2012, 22:06
That's 1110mm at its longest point as u all no the rline insert isn't squared ends its rounded and tapered
Title: Re: R32 and R line rear bumper owners .....
Post by: AD1.8T on 19 April 2012, 22:13

Post by: cullygti on 19 April 2012, 22:45
you can have r line with a number of different exhaust setups and mk5 style as in middle side by side  actually looks really good tbh
Title: Re: R32 and R line rear bumper owners .....
Post by: thatwillis on 19 April 2012, 22:47
No No No too close together! The mk5 R32 would look so much nicer if the exhausts where apart like the mk4 r32.
Title: Re: R32 and R line rear bumper owners .....
Post by: cullygti on 19 April 2012, 22:49

Mk4 R32 exhaust position - Spot on
Mk5 R32 exhaust position - Too close together
Mk6 R exhaust position - Pretty much the same as the Mk5 :undecided:

My first car was a 1.4 Mk3 Golf, that I badged up (as well as skirts, arches, interior etc) as a GTI, because I liked the style over standard, but I couldn't afford the real thing, let alone insurance!
