As above,
I do 30-40k per year and doing this on v-power alone is proving rather expensive.
Can anyone recommend me a derv for 6-8k which still has a bit of poke whilst maintaining decent mpg?
Still torn between that and saying fcuk it, full exhaust, stage two map and a few other bits, but that will obviously rape the fuel bill, you only live once and whilst I can, why not!
-
What about a cheaper Mk4 derv for munching miles and use the left over money/savings for Stage 2
-
the seats are pretty good cars in the derv my mates got the ibiza sport 130 and its bloody quick the fr versions are quite nice to with a bit more power i think  also the leon fr are tuneable upto 200 ish and fuel economy win win

Nice, top man

MK4's are only good if they have been looked after & as you said be lucky to get one with low mileage, saying that mine has done over 135k now but the mrs is still using daily to do a lot of miles & never had any issues.
Im sure you could pick up a lot better than a Mk4 for the money you want to spend.
-
Mk4 130pd
-
fabia vrs?
-
Been using an A3 tdi for a week now as a courtesy car and its fantastic on fuel. I get 45-50 on average with a few sprints here and there and got 67mpg on my motorway commute.
You can pick one up for around 7k
Cheers, James
-
Cheers, now you have got me thinking.
-
if it was my money either go for a 130pd (1.9) VAG
keep away from the 2.0 as they drink oil as much as 5 litres between services!!
or the M47/ M57 Bmw engines used in the E46 bmw 3 series.
(M47 is 2 litre and M57 2.9 litre BTW)
The later ones are too pricy and use silly runflats
-
the wifes got a 51 plate a3 tdi sport and its great on fuel but would love a newer shape one much nicer looking but as said the bmw is also very nice
-
a3's are w4nk. if you want something decent for the money then look no further than the mk5 GTTDI 140 (also comes with dsg if you are lazy). These cars munch miles for fun and are no where near as harsh as the unnecessary audi suspension.
alternatively see passat
-
Low mileage TDi 130 Highline Bora
Get leather, all the toys and nobody will want to steal it
-
If it had to stay VW - mk4 anni diesel. PD150 lump, come with nice wheels etc and tend to be a bit lower mileage too.
If not I'd be looking at BMW diesels probably 5 series as a bit bigger and comfier
-
octavia vrs? Well happy with mine. Golf chassis, 170 bhp and over 50 mpg on long distance.
-
few very good options here but my money would go on the seat ibiza cupra my mates standard 130 sport allmost humiliates my mapped 1.8t so the extra power for fun and a map etc would see some good results a very under rated car for the money i think i am dreading the day my mate gets a map on his as it will destroy all my glory
-
With a budget of 7k ignore a mk4 or bora, get something current. Something with a 2.0tdi engine like in the A3 or GTTDI etc. As mentioned above, dsg if your lazy and it really is awesome.
-
Seat altea - This is my next toy on the list
But anything with the 2.0TDI engine is where I would look with that much cash - A3, Leon, Asspat, A4 etc...
