ive read on another forum tha if you disconnect the hose goin to the egr and blank that off it has the same effect as deleting the egr is this the case?

Imagine so. Might be better off looking in the mk4 section as it's a more common mod than on the mk3 diesel.

You can just disconnect the EGR,  If it has a needle lift sensor it will throw a code, but shouldn't effect it,  The only reason to blank the EGR is if its all gunked up and sticking open rather than closed.

Fit the plates and block the vac hose,  I cant remember if there is a needle lift sensor though,  I guess not,  so just make sure the solenoid near the intake pipe is left plugged in but the hose is blocked off.   Otherwise you might end up with limp mode

Yes ive fitted the plates as above,

It does make it drive better plus stops the intake manifold from clogging up.

Also it will not throw up any codes of limp mode ect. The mk3 is simple enough not to be affected.

Sorry to raise an old thread. Does anyone know where egr blanks are available for an aaz td umwelt? There doesn't appear to be any on ebay with a clear description to whether they will fit my engine. Thank you in advance.
