Title: Vag com - timing too retarded

good evening boys n girls. i tried to do the fuel plotting thing earlier in vag com, but there was a message on the bottom of the screen that said 'timing too retarded' so my question is how do i go about advancing the timing? i know its a case of loosening off the 3 screws on the derv pump and turning it, but im not sure wether i turn it clockwise or anti clock. anybody know?
