What never used a Frosties card board to make gaskets before?

Someone did not joking it wasn't a headgasket though, the story goes a lad turned up at a professional mechanics place at midnight begging for something to be fixed.
The chap didnt have spares, but made a gasket up from a frosties packet.
The gasket lasted for quite awhile and he had been strictly told to change it out soon as he could get the OEM gasket. He didnt and his car blew up.
Story goes it got blown out of all proportion and the whole scene heard about it and thought the chap used Frosties for gaskets.
It's like you do a favour to get someone out of trouble and he got flack for using his skills as a temp fix!

weatabix packet works quite well.

Purely because I'm with my pedantic f**king twit of a mate who thought it would be funny, he thought it would be funny to take the piss again seeing the argument it caused when I made a joke about dannyp's spelling, I know it is not funny so told him no, but he did it while I was in the loo, the "this is only a joke" bit, is to try to start an argument, ignore it, I'm going to.
Or better still if one of you mods could delete it before it does cause another argument I'd be appreciative?

mk3 2ltr headgaskets are interchangeable fits where it touches and all that hell you can even use a 16v one most are even the same part number.
you can even put a 2.0 head gasket on a 1.8 and it'll work not advised tho. it goes tits up when you put a 1.8 gasket on a 2.0 tho piston has a habbit of comeing up and tapping the fire ring on the gasket makes quite a worrying noise that dose

engine is fu**d

thanks for the reply headgaskets blown again any idea what can be causing back pressure in the water system a thought there was to much pressure in the system after about a week of getn the car back took it easy for about 600 miles gasket went again after 1700 miles do you think a need a bottom block or get the head skimmed AND pressure tested what does the piggy back ecu do aswell
-
inpect the head visualy for cracks, 8v motors are usally obvious when they crack heads and its something they do rarely.
skim the head and duff it down with new bolts and a 2ltr gasket. MLS gaskets really do require everything to be spotlessly clean and flat else they will leack bit done right they are bloody good
-
is he being nice now? if so i might help :D just replacing the gasket only works in a handful of cases iv done it 3 times now and it still blows within 300 miles get it pressure tested and head skimmed if need be, (was going to do that until the golf got stolen and torched :/) but before that check head for cracks as was said its rare but can happen :)
