Following not much response to my cold start problem i have decided to take some pictures under the hood of areas i wanna mess about with but im not sure what they are. Quick question first of all does anyone know what this little box under the coil with a spade connector does and what it should plug into because mine seems to be floating about doing nothing, could this be linked to cold start problem?

second of all does anyone know what this little pipe thing dooes as mine has a weak spot in the point shown in the picture

cheers in advance

the little box looks like a heat sink of some sort (check you manual i think it should connect to the coil)
and with regards to the pipe buy some new tube and fix the weak spot as vw put these pipes in for a reason and the smallest leak can cause all sorts of problemsÂÂÂ
does the pipe go into a small diaphram on the side of the carb or injection housing if so it will be very important if your having cold start problems this could b the reason
don't quote me on it though

cheers doesn't seem to mention the box in the manual and as for the pipe its hard to trace i think it goes to a diaphragm on the airbox

The pipe is the feed from the brake servo pipe to the air flow metre, I think- if it is getting weak I would replace the rubber part. From memory it takes a small amount of emissions and feeds it back into the system.

so woul dthis make my brakes weak or give me cold start probs? :embarassed: :undecided:

TBH I am not sure. Would be guessing if I had to give an answer, but cold starting probs more likely outcome as flow metre may not be reading correctly? :undecided: The tubing on my 8V is also pretty weak, but not had any problems from it.
