Hi,
I've installed a new stereo in to my MK4 and was wondering if anyone had experience of installing a Second 12V Outlet. The reason for this is I have a brodit cradle for the car and want to be able to charge my phone and not have to have the cover open to the current 12v outlet.
Was wondering if anyone had ran a new cable just for charging an iphone or had installed a second socket somewhere?

What I have is a high rated cable from battery via bulkhead into an additional fuse box, then link crap to it like double din headunit, boost gauge any other additional 12v devices or sockets. Also installed a rocker kill switch in glovebox for when cars not in use.

Ah ok, I'll give it a go. I only want a second 12v socket :)

Anyone else had any experience with this?

i bought a dual 12v socket , spliced it into the wiring for the original 12v socket . hid it all behind the dash so the original socket is free , and the 2 hidden ones have my phone charger and sat nav cable in them. the end of the phone charger is hidden in the cubby hole above the stereo and the satnav one in the dash vent.

How did you get behind it all? Did you take current one out and wire it in?

yes , it comes out pretty easy , and i just spliced into the cables
