Title: RCD 310 or RCD510
Post by: weejockvw on 15 April 2012, 09:02: Need a wee bit of help Ive got a RCD 310 in my GTI MK6 and thinking of upgrading to a RCD 510 DAB is it a straight swap and will the DAB work or will I need a new aerial

Post by: Critter on 16 April 2012, 07:45: If your RCD 310 is DAB, you won't need a DAB aerial. If it's not DAB, you have potentially some major work to do to get a proper and effective DAB aerial installed. As for any other issues, I recently did exactly what you are proposing and it was plug n' play so no other issues - but then I already had DAB.

£250 plus shipping... Comes with code and user manual.
Here's the actual unit... Just before removal, when the car was less than 5 months old. (61 reg GTD)

You will only have a DAB aerial if the car originally had DAB.

It seemes that VW made wiring looms for each specific car dependent on factory spec, rather than one loom fits all. That's what makes retro fitting stuff more complicated than it needs to be.

Yes. I did the very same swap in a GTI and everything worked as it should. :smiley:
