Title: Can a 125cc pit bike be made legal?
Post by: golf-sib on 14 April 2012, 15:18
I got myself a pit bike coming my way, I have had a google and tbh it was not very helpful on whether a pitbike can be made road legal as I'm sure I've seen a few with numberplate on the road.

There's so much mixed references, some say you can, some say you can't, then they reference what the motoring authority class as a class A vehicle, and even that contradicts itself... Some say it depends on the frame... a lot of information thats just not helpful. I imagine it will be noisy as hell and I'd love to lower the noise as much as possible if it can be made road legal.

Thanks in advance

the way ide go about it is... firstly get a copy of all MOT criteria, and go through doing anything that you know needs doing for it to pass MOT. then from there you have a good base point and most things will be coverd, as for the frame im not sure how that would effect it. but again im not compleatly up to scratch on the whole bike scene.

best thing to do is buy a new Chinese road legal pit bike and ditch it after 3 years as there is no way in hell it will get through an MOT
