Title: V.Annoying rattle
Post by: Gambit on 30 September 2003, 09:05
right i have this really annoying rattle on my car that garages cant seem to source, they say the engine mounts are all fine (i know the front & gearbox are defo)

the noise is like the downpipe silencer knocking on the side of the tunnel.

if there was any movement in the rear mount then under deacceleration the engine will move forward wont it causing it to lift the downpipe silencer into the tunnel?

i tried to explain this yesterday to him but he wouldnt believe me.

do this sound like a viable reason to my rattle?

If the rear mount is shot, it could cause a problem. Rock the engine and get someone to look at the play on the rear mount, you will soon know if its buggered!
