cleaned throttle body and maf sensor today, battery was disconected as i was also removing steering wheel airbag etc anyway on startup idle is now at 1400 according to manual it says ecu has to relearn is that correct . i checked for air leaks seems ok runs smooth not lumpy just high idle any thoughts anybody thanks ged.
just read a previous post about re setting throttl sensor disconnect battery for a few hours re connect turn on ignition for 30 seconds turn off then start should be ok. will try that. should have read old threads first sorry guys will catch on eventually.

Put all vacuum pipes on? Could be sucking in air after the throttle body butterfly.
-
all vac pipes are ok checked for leaks at joint between tb and inlet chamber seems ok,forgot to mention did remove butterfly to give proper clean theres only two ways it can go on because of the locating indents, there is a slight gap on the bottom between butterfly and body but this was the same even if i swapped it round bout 1-2mm.

i Clean my throttle body with out taking it off (lazy way lol)
can you not adjust the throttle cable? i had to do that on my 307 once to stay at 800rpm
-
Vag-com can put it into re-learn mode, but it will re-learn its self after a few miles, double check the throttle is fully rested on the stop just in case something is holding it open a bit. But its quite normal for this to happen after its removed.

Go for a b road blast and see how it is after that. 10 miles will be enough.

What did you cleaf mad with?
-
cleaned maf with brake cleaner.
-
came across another problem when battery disconectted full closure alarm totally imobilised couldnt disarm, also happens when battery discharged, thought ide share this with everybody, reconnect battery with ignition in on position this then puts imobiliser into standby then immediately hold down arming button for ten seconds this resets system, everything okey dokey.

Never clean the "electrical" maf with brake cleaner (which contains oil!).. try and use electrical cleaner as it's basically a wire element thats heated
disconnect the maf and see if it runs different (plus there is a specific way to reset the t/b properly....If i find it by using "search" I will post here )

Ok it's not oil (it is similar to what's in wd40 though!!)..... it doesn't lube but its designed to protect and evaporate when heated (b.t.w I'm remembering my old carplan/tetrosyl days here!)
oh and it fk's maf's!!

yes it defo fks mafs up no doubt about that brother ,only thing you should use on mafs is air!,from a compressor, not a can!

only ever use maf or elec connect cleaner on a maf i found out the hard way
-
ust to let everybody know problem sorted.i recleaned maf with carb cleaner, for my own piece of mind ,i also resealed gasket on throttle body for the same reason, now heres the strange bit ,directly below throttle body there is an electrical connector going to that particular injector,it didnt seem to be fully clicked into position, all back together running at 850-900 at idle respose smoother and better pick up,think that connection might have been switching between on/off and other three compensating for it causing high idle?

could be. good spot.
