Title: 1.4 Keeps cutting out
Post by: Kyp on 01 June 2005, 15:37
Greetings,

This is my first post, so hi to all.

Help!! Got a problem with my '94 1400. Im sure somebody else must have had the same problem, I ve seen a few post for similar ones.
The car runs fine execpt for this one thing, and it happens quite a lot! Its fine if Im doing a constant speed, but sometimes it just cuts out, it seems to be mainly when Im accelerating (even gently), like away from roundabouts or lights. It doesn't cough or splutter just cleanly cuts out.
It also takes a few attemps to start but always does, may not even be related.

Has any body else had/know a cure for this problem?!  Ive changed the leads and the fuel pump relay but thats had no effect.

Any help or ideas would be great!

hey, i used to have a '94 1.4, and mine did once have cutting out ishoos  :undecided:

basically, the engine would cut out, no matter if i was doing 7 or 70 mph (scary!), and it didnt matter if it was cold, hot or whatever.

my local dealer had it for 2 weeks and nothing came up on the fault codes or anything  :undecided:

anyhoo, they decided to change the distributor, which thankfully cured it

like wotto said, try the relay thing (ive heard that this may also be the cause of the cutting out prob my corrado is having atm....apparently its a common fault) and good luck with it
