Title: What to do... 2 Cars, 1 Guy haha!!
Post by: CJA321 on 11 April 2012, 20:29
Hoping this is were to post this.

Okay, so bought a Toyota Corolla T-Sport for £1500 cheap, bloke wanted rid fast as got another car given to him, nothing wrong with it, all legal 12months MOT, 4 Tax, FSH.
Was ALOT less than trade price for the car, so was thinking could maybe make a couple penny's selling it on, anyway
Said Toyota
(http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/k530/CJA321/678010.jpg)
1.8 VVTL-I 190 BHP?!?!!! Looks a total sleeper/Granny spec to me imo.
96k, Parking Sensors, AC, remote CL, Double DIN satnav/CD player, full size spare, TC, full toyota service history. The whole lot tbh
Read a few reviews, apparently handling is prity poor, and im not keen on the looks personally which is putting me off the most.
Now i really don't know what I want to do, keep my Golf, which iv put alot of time into and part of me really doesn't want to get rid, especially because MK3s are really not worth alot as it is.
Or go with the more modern/possibly sensible, Toyota. Bearing in mind, the Mk3 is getting to stage it really needs painted now and its getting the plus side of 125k.
Head or Heart.... Insurance etc is as close enough to make no real difference.
Keep Golf, or sell Toyota/ Keep Toyota sell Golf.  :undecided:
Love VW's.... But what you guys think?

In a former life I had one of those as a company car.

I was waiting at Cross Hands roundabout in West Wales, on the clutch as I was first, when I was smashed into from behind at 40 MPH by some old barsteward who was busy chatting to his aged passengers and not concentrating!

Naturally it shunted me onto the roundabout, and by good fortune there was nothing coming around it, and into the side of me!

His car was fecked in the front and the Toytanker just had a buckled rear bumper.

A Keeper!

Also, to make things slightly even more difficult.

Bought 1500
Trade 2200
Forecourt 3200.

Wouldn't sell for that obviously. But potential for a big mark up and some decent cash. Why its making it so hard

And still cant believe something that looks like that has 190 BHP....

put it up for £2900 and sit on it for a bit, if nothing after a month think about keeping it or drooping to £2600. Wouldn't be worth getting rid for less mate. Either way, nice find!

I must be getting old as my premiums are cheap.  The V5 I had cost £345, my V6 family wagon costs £355 and the little 8v is £280 all fully comp. Scoobys come in at £490.  What does your vRS cost Wayne?  I know Chuff pays about a quid for all his cars. :lipsrsealed:

I was only quoted 100 on top of what im paying now for my mk3 8v

I have honestly no idea how groups/insurance etc works, so not going to get into that argumant, i only assumed lower group meant less insurance

Keep it, your Mk3 has more rust and less horses
Sell the tug and spend the money on insuring the Toyota

If you really miss a bit of weekend sailing the Toyota will still get you a handful of Mk3's in couple of years time

It's all nonsense anyway premiums I have always ignored the 'group' from the age of 24. I have never paid more than £600 and thats a range of cars that I have owned.

Toyota's I would assume would be cheap to insure.

Also depends on how many cvnts have crashed them, how old the car is, what you had for breakfast, what make your toaster is and if it is a 2 or 4 slice toaster.

None of it makes sense yesterday my ex did a quote on a 1994 1.6 Astra £9500, did a quote on a mk2 1.3 and gti £650 and £800. she is 18 and is a learner, I will pay more than that being 24 with 3 years no claims on my mk3 gti 8v

Near enough same engine as the honda type R. Been told there pritty good to there ponys, and with full toyota service history id be quite confidant! Would be interesting though

But tbh that power seems bit wasted with such a granny spec look

Great find and very good car   My brother has a grey 3 door t sport and it moves very well not quite as quick as the type r but near enough   for the spec your saying, I'd say your looking at £2800 re sale which is a good profit and could easily see a nice 1.8t under the mk3's bonnet   i will tell you now i had a full on race with my brother in his and like my friend with his honda type r there is not much in it! between my 155bhp mk3 16v gti! now people will say thats ridiculous but i can tell you now between the torque there is sod all and maybe that's what does it! anyhow it is a good car and not as common as the type r and can look amazing done properly

If you're really not keen on it and you're also not desperate to keep a hold of your Mk3 why not sell both and put the combined funds towards something better?
