Is there any 16v head that can fit on a 2.0 8v block? Just wondering if any used the same engine block or if they were a completely different engine.

Different engine. You can't just plonk the 16V head on.

cheers.

some of the 8 and 16v engines share a common block, got to change a lot of bits tho before you can duff a 16v head on tho

I only asked as I was offered a recon 16v head for £20, wondered if I could put it on my 8v, save me buying a complete 16v engine.

That's more work than fitting a vr6 engine

Yes, but the 16V won't try and bankrupt you with fuel consumption.

This isn't a worry to me as anything I do I'll get better mpg, my current car is doing 17mpg on a run, compared with the 52mpg I was getting when I first got it, even a vr6 will do better than that that.
I really want to put an audi s3 engine in it, but I think I'm going to end up with a tuned vr6.

You could buy head , sell on make money to go towards 1.8t vr6 etc

It was a mate that I gave 2 decent sets of alloy wheels, a heavy duty van battery, a 100 ton roller bearing and a 2.5d transit engine and gearbox last year, the £20 was really just to pay for the postage, I'll just wait till he has something I can use.
