Title: GoPro HD video converter/editor
Post by: Khare on 10 April 2012, 21:31
Have been given a GoPro Hero HD as a present and I've got a video I'd like to upload to youtube, however the MP4 file it's in is massive and youtube says 100 minutes to upload the video. From what I've researched it takes ages to upload in that format, and people use quicktime pro and other pay software to edit and convert videos, however I'm not wanting to splash out on software, so does anyone know of any that I can use to convert the GoPro format to a more manageable format that I can put in windows movie maker to edit and convert?

Lightworks is probably your best bet

http://www.lightworksbeta.com/

or

http://www.openmovieeditor.org/

Amusing you're going to keep the output (finished video) 720p or 1080p you're still looking at large files, around 3MB per second so a minute video would be 180MB

Cheers Ridg. Clicked on the openmovieeditor and it turns out it's for Linux, however there was a link to AVS video editor and downloaded it, gave it a test and got to grips with it pretty quickly. Just finishing up editing. Cheers for the links mate, much appreciated!
