Title: need a weber for the cabbie
Post by: welshgirl on 01 June 2005, 11:59
had the cabbie booked in for mot last sat - its been off the road for the winter and although it was never running a1 before then, it started first time every time in the garage. then on sat (for the first time in months) it started cutting out so did not make it to the mot

it runs, then cuts out and is v difficult to start again. it looks like its the pierburg carb causing the prob (have checked and there is plenty of fuel getting to the carb and the fuel pump is new, but something in carb must be sticking  (if i put petrol direct into carb it will fire up, then die)

so if anyone has a weber for sale suitable for a 1993 1.8 clipper please let me know as i am desperate to make the most of going topless for the summer before i have to get a 5 door car and babyseats this winter.

If only I had my 16v conversion done, you could have had mine.

I might just give it to you just to see you topless

It sounds like it might have some muck in one of the jets.Try cleaning the jets,or cleaning the top of the carb with some carb cleaner.WATCH YOUR EYES,stings like mad.
If you can get it to rev,you could also try blocking of the top of the carb, to stop the air.Make sure it doesn`t get sucked into the carb.
This trick usually clears any muck that has got stuck.
Could be a fix until you find a replacement.
