Hi all,great site by the way I've spent a good few hours looking round and decided to join you all,3 weeks ago I got my first vw,2001 gti 1.8t and I love it,pretty standard bar k&n filter,oil catch can and some TSW Sepang wheels 17"(which I'm not that keen on)   
Now I see what folk see in golfs the car brings a smile to my face whenever I get in it,even if I'm on my way to work :smiley:

Mate, a smile to you face!!  I know exactly what you mean. I am not new to vw but am new to the forum. Fortunately for me I retired in March and made my mk 2 gti part of my retirement plan. With ten weeks to go I insured my 21 year old for social, domestic and work travel and had the pleasure of my 1.8 8v for ten miles to work and back through january, february and part of march............it made my last ten weeks in a job I was tried of become an absolute pleasure!!!       Now my time is my own to do as I please and joining the forum seems ideal for me.  best wishes to you all  Mick...ex mental health nurse.

Thanks all look forward to a bit of banter,mick nice to have a hobby like yours in retirement I never seem to have the time to get much done at all the kids see to that.
