Any one had the same happen to them? just been quoted 1900 to have a new dpf fitted and retest by Listers vw in Coventry.

I'm not and are they 100% sure its blocked? I know a chap who was told his was blocked so had a DPF delete pipe instead; the inside of his old pipe you could eat your dinner off it :lipsrsealed:
Usually a sensor fails which causes the DPF pipe to block; were any of these replaced?

No, im not sure they are telling he truth, but the read out says 90% blocked, no sensors were replaced,
Im thinking of having it took off as the wife uses it alot and it doesnt get the spped or milage it needs to keep it from unblocking, its only got 39k on the clock, seems to me like it shouldnt go that soon

Yep same thing was said to the chap i know.
What sort of journey is she doing?? I used to do just 8 miles a day and never once had a problem. Like i said a sensor fails and stops the dpf doing a regen
What they need to do is monitor the sensors to see if there any variations. Ideally you need to find someone local who has vagcom / vcds so it can be done on the road

Got a mate who owns a garage and he has vagcom, will pop along and see him tomorrow,
Mrs does about 11 miles each way but during rush hour on the slowest roads in Coventry,
May just get it removed if it carries on, cant use the car now as it only does 70 at a push,

He needs to monitor blocks 70 and 75
You might be able to do a force regeneration too. Ill try and find a link as you need a code to login and activate it

The sensor is a g450 dpf pressure sensor, if faulty the differential pressure is not correct causing the fault, I would replace this sensor and change the ash mass level and carry out a forced regen on the dpf.

^^ that's pretty much bang on. Seen this on two VAG's (A4 and a Transporter) just this week. The pressure differential sensors have vacum pipes on them and when the DPF fills up, it can start to throw ash back up the system and damage the sensor element.
Personally, I'd smash the DPF through and just DPF OFF it. I must do these every other day at the moment. Modern diesels really shouldn't be used by people doing mainly short runs, they're a false economy and more trouble than they're worth.

Cheerz, ive had the dpf removed and a re map by Rtech in Hinckley took it up to 207 bhp and 325lb torque, goes like f**k now although the front tyres are wearing down quicker, but its more fun
